This is a set in a parallel universe where we have kindergarten kids cramming their heads full of advanced math and physics. With math and physics students aren't tormented by the question: How do I know this stuff is true? They are tormented by a suspicion saying they are enduring lots of mental anguish studying something which will never reward them for all their hard work.
Christianity is supposed to be rather simple. It is something a kid should be able to understand. Recall Matthew 26. 28 and Jeremiah 31. 31-34. The gists of these are that Christianity / the New Covenant / the New Law / the True Faith is something which can be inscribed on the hearts of even the least of God's people. Christianity starts off easy enough. Jesus is God - John 1. 1-14, Matthew 1. 23, 1 Timothy 3. 16, Colossians 2. 8-10, Psalm 2, Isaiah 9. 6 etc. Obviously, if Jesus was not born of a virgin and was not conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, if Jesus was not God then Christianity would be invalidated. But if Jesus is God then you can trust what God / Jesus says about a True Church in Matthew 16. 13-19.
So, what you want to do is escape from false religions and false churches and find God's True Church, because the True Church leads people to heaven, whereas false religions and false churches lead people to eternal perdition. Of course every church claims it leads people to heaven. No church claims that it leads people away from heaven and drags them down to eternal perdition. But you have to use some common sense. For example, John 6. 53-55 says in so many words that you must take holy communion to attain heaven and escape perdition. And 1 Corinthians 11. 27-29 says you drink damnation into your soul if you celebrate holy communion in an unworthy manner. So, you'll want to know the difference between a worthy manner and an unworthy manner.
The weird thing is millions of Christians are incapable of drawing sane conclusions from the premises they start with. I'm referring to the Cafeteria Catholics and the Cafeteria Protestants, people who insist that some church is God's True Church but then they proceed to rebel against the church they insist is God's True Church.
Suppose you obey 1 Corinthians 6. 9-10 but suppose you also take communion with people who make no secret that they rebel against 1 Corinthians 6. 9-10, and hence they rebel against Acts 26. 13-18, and hence they rebel against Galatians 1. 8-12. All this is sort of simple, but it still takes some explaining, e.g., you have to explain what 1 Corinthians 11. 27-29 says.
And, of course, one might be in perfect agreement with God on most issues which pertains to 1 Cor 11. 27-29, but one might still be drinking damnation into one's soul because one celebrates holy communion in an unworthy manner because one transgresses on any number of other issues. For instance, perhaps God really hates it whenever people take holy communion in one of those churches which promise you wealth and health, via Divine miracle, provided you first make a cash contribution to one of these same covetous churches.
The 10 Commandments are certainly binding on Christians. Christians are not free to steal, murder, covet, bear false witness, have other gods before the True God, commit adultery etc. But look how many Christians labor and buy and sell on the Sabbath. Even if you are not a Sabbath violator yourself, yet if you celebrate holy communion with Sabbath violators, then, according to 1 Corinthians 11. 27-29...
